JULIE GOFMAN: Elite Diamond Award of Distinction Recognized as Canada's Top Real Estate Agent

AS Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom once said, “You might have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” Since she entered the industry more than two decades ago, no one and nothing has stopped Julie Gofman from getting the highest offers for her sellers or from finding the perfect homes for her buyers, in every market.

Julie has won every real estate award imaginable, including the Elite Diamond Award of Distinction. She attributes her extraordinary success to her willingness to live the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In Julie’s case, that means doing what’s right, even when there is a chance that she might lose a client or a sale. Clients appreciate this and constantly refer “Team Julie” to their family, friends and colleagues.

In today’s fast moving and complex real estate climate, a high level of expertise is critical for success. Julie’s husband Roman, who also has thirty years of industry experience, is a key member of her team. “Team Julie’s” clients benefit from an extensive email database of highly qualified potential buyers, sellers and investors from all over the world. All members of the team consistently sell many multimillion dollar properties and navigate complex transactions with Julie’s signature poise and finesse.

Julie also has an extensive professional network - other real estate agents often ask her for advice on listings, invite her to co-list properties with them, or check in to find out what she has coming up. “We do not market all high-end homes in newspapers these days. I think that profiling, or knowing what my clients want and need, is one of my greatest assets. The other is my extensive professional network. This allows me to complete a lot of off-market sales,” Julie says. “Knowledge is crucial, especially because the majority of today’s deals are complicated. Every buyer and every seller has a unique set of personal and financial circumstances. A deeply experienced broker not only recognizes the triggers, he or she knows what to do about them,” she adds.

During negotiations, Julie is completely focused on protecting her clients’ interests and for solving problems in a way that, “Everyone walks away from the table believing they got a fair deal,” she says. She instinctively knows when it’s appropriate to sign-back an offer (“Always!” she quips) and what it will take to ensure that both the buyer and the seller walk away feeling positive.

Perhaps that explains why Julie consistently performs in the top one percent of the more than 36,000 licensed realtors in the Greater Toronto Area - her listings have also sold for more than double the average selling price of all of the listings on Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) and one of the real estate magazines described her as a “virtuoso.”

Almost exclusively Julie has built her business on referrals and repeat business. In fact, one Forest Hill family has bought and sold seven properties with Julie in the last ten years alone. “I do not set monetary goals,” Julie says. “My goal is to have my buyer or my seller happy and satisfied with the transaction. That’s more important to me than anything else.”

Whether she is selling a $10-million-dollar home or a $700,000 high-rise condominium in mid-town Toronto, Julie is focused on doing the right thing for the client, whether that means driving for hours for a face-to-face meeting or waking up at four in the morning to complete an international call. No wonder her clients describe Julie as one of the most honest, respected and upbeat real estate agent in the prestigious neighbourhoods of Toronto.

In addition to buying and selling real estate, her full-service team is also available to advise clients on design ideas. Team Julie maintains a roster of trusted suppliers. Clients can readily access the services they need to both prepare their home for listing and to ensure the property is maintained in great condition throughout the sales cycle.

Recently, Julie was featured in, “Top Agent Magazine” the only real estate magazine written for top real estate agents about top real estate agents. The magazine consists of a series of interviews with the most accomplished professionals in the real estate and mortgage industries in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia. “Sharing column inches with some of the best agents in the world was a most gratifying and humbling experience. I am always so proud and happy to play a role in helping my clients reach their real estate goals. I absolutely love what I do and I am thrilled that people recognize that,” Julie says.

Julie is also a professional member of The Toronto Real Estate Board and The Ontario Real Estate Association, and an affiliated member of both Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate,” and The International Association of Realtors.

Julie brings the same focus, commitment and energy to her volunteer and charitable activities as she does to her professional endeavours. She currently supports The Baycrest, Princess Margaret and Mount Sinai Hospitals, Sick Kids Foundation, the Jewish National Fund, and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, among many others.

Julie attributes her ongoing success to her experience, her willingness to ‘sweat the small stuff,’ and to her focus on treating home-buyers and home sellers in the same way that she treats beloved family members. She also credits the love and support of her husband Roman and her children, with ensuring she has everything she needs to do the best possible job for her clients.

“In conclusion, I am committed to earning your trust and to doing whatever it takes to embody my business tag line - Trusted. Respected. Recommended. Like Margaret Thatcher, I understand the game. I know how to play it. And, I am extraordinarily focused and patient. I love helping clients realize their goals. Every day I get a new opportunity to make someone happy. What a gift. I just can’t imagine doing anything else in my life or in my career,” Julie says with a smile.
